Formatting cells is a good way to tell something apart. In order to make a word/s stand out one can use the Bold Button. What this does is it makes everything thicker and darker, but make sure you highlight the word first. Another way to format a cell is by changing the color of contents of a cell. To do this highlight the word and go to the font group in the home tab and click the Font Color button. You may choose the color that you want. One can also add a border to a cell if one doesn't want to bold or color the cell. To add a border select the cell and go to the font group. Click the down arrow of the Border control button and choose the one you want. To fill color of a cell is another way to format a cell and make it stand out. To fill color select the cell and on the font group in the home tab click the fill color button and choose the color you want.
Defining Styles:
If the style you want to add to your worksheet is not there, then you can create your very own. When in the cell styles gallery go to the very bottom and click the New Cell Style button to display the Style dialog box. In the dialog box one can type the name of the new style in the Style name field and click Format. When you click format the dialog box comes up and from there you can choose the font that you want, font style, size, etc. and then click ok to confirm the new style you created. If you ever want to delete the style you created just open up the cell styles gallery and right click the style and just press delete.
Applying Workbook Themes and Table Styles:
When wanting to spice up your workbook/worksheet you can add a theme. To add a theme go to the Page Layout tab and under the themes group click the themes button. The choices appear and you can choose the one that suits your workbook/sheet. If you like the theme but just want to change the color, you can! In the theme group click the color button and choose which ever one you want. You can also do this with the fonts and graphic effects. You can also apply a style to a table. When you create a table, of course you type in the new style name for your table, and then select the table element you want to format and click format. Fill out or choose all the formatting and then click OK.
